Rancho Bernardo— fondly nicknamed “RB” by the locals—sits just 20 miles north of downtown San Diego. The community is the northernmost residential area within the city limits of San Diego. Rancho Bernardo has a land mass of more than 17,000 acres, an expanse that was established in 1842 on the Rancho San Bernardo land grant. One of the most distinctive features of this city is its topography, which comprises rolling hills and canyons.

The schools in the community are under the jurisdiction of the Poway Unified School District, which encompasses 25 elementary schools, six middle schools and four high schools as well as a continuing education high school. Pomerado Hospital, the closest hospital, is just a mile south of the city.

Rancho Bernardo offers various events and attractions for all age groups all through the year. For instance, the Bernardo Winery offers frequent tours and wine tastings. Residents can also look forward to activities such as the Friday Farmer’s Market, the Springs Arts and Crafts Fair, and Jazz on the Patio. Another exciting event in the city is RB Alive, an annual street fair that has a carnival-like atmosphere. The summer event brings together different arts and crafts and creates a fun platform for businesses that promote their products and services. The RB Alive is such a popular, vibrant event that it attracts more than 50,000 individuals each year.
