The first neighborhoods of the master-planned East lake community were opened on 3,200 acres of land. This is located south of San Diego within Chula Vista. East Lake has a total of six public schools; Olympic View Elementary, Salt Creek Elementary, East Lake Elementary, Arroyo Vista Elementary and East Lake High School which has a performing arts center within its campus that’s well-developed.

Residents and visitors of East Lake enjoy several annual events like fun run/walk events, a cycling race (There are bicycle and jogging paths in the entire community), holiday tree lighting, the South Bay Summer Game which is a mini Olympics and the East Lake Summer Sounds concerts in the park.
Since East Lake is close to the Olympic Training Center, residents and visitors enjoy lots of sporting events and competitions which is organized in partnership with Olympic athletes. Also, there are commercial areas in the community such as the East Lake Village Center which has anchor grocery stores as well as other restaurants and stores and the East Lake Village Marketplace which features specialty stores and common retail chains such as Target. The headquarters of some companies like Hitachi and Leviton is at the East Lake Business center.
