San Carlos is a neighborhood on the east side of San Diego. Located quite close to the large Mission Trails regional park, this is a close-knit and affluent community. San Carlos is bordered by Lake Murray, Navajo, Del Cerro, the Mission Trails Park, and Tierrasanta, as well as the city of La Mesa. The community was developed by Carlos Tavares after WWII and also named after him.

You will find multiple golf courses in the town, including the San Carlos Golf Course and the Mission Trails Golf Course. There are movie theaters, shopping malls, and the popular Parkway Plaza, which is perfect for summer shopping. Lake Murray, which is just three miles away, is a favorite natural destination for residents with its walking and bike paths. There are small boats for rent which can be used for a fun day of fishing. For more serious fishing enthusiasts, Santee Lake is about seven miles away and offers excellent fishing with no need for a license.
