General Description

Fantastic amenities in Talmadge

In 1927, three sisters—Natalie, Norma and Constance—opened the Talmadge Park real estate development. Interestingly, the community was named after them; even streets within the community were inspired by their names. Today, this community in the mid-city region of San Diego features distinctive, eclectic architecture. It’s also home to the Colina Del Sol park and the Promise Hospital of San Diego.

College and Talmadge features an exciting variety of home design; styles include California bungalows and Cape Cod cottages as well as Spanish revival and Normandy Style homes. Most of the homes found in Talmadge were designed by the famed California architect Cliff May.

Sometimes, for official purposes, Talmadge and the area of Kensington are grouped as one community. They are actually part of the same community planning area. You will find Talmadge about seven miles northwest of the downtown San Diego area, bordered by Montezuma Road and Collwood Boulevard to the northeast, by El Cajon Boulevard to the south and by Fairmount Avenue to the west. Because the community is south of Interstate 8, it offers residents a simple, quick route into downtown San Diego as well as across several locations in the metropolitan area.

Children in Talmadge attend schools under the San Diego Unified School District. The Herbert Hoover High School is the only school you will physically find within the community, so kids typically attend are elementary and middle schools in other neighborhoods within San Diego.

Residents of Talmadge can easily enjoy some of the fantastic amenities that San Diego has to offer—from world-class hospitals and education centers to the state’s best beaches and the world’s best golf courses. Talmadge locals can also access a variety of businesses and industries, along with military bases and posts, and top-notch research institutions throughout the region.
