Encinitas

Encinitas is an ocean lover’s paradise! This large, suburban coastal community is located in Northern San Diego county, spanning six miles of the Pacific Ocean coastline. It is an incorporated city with a small-town beach vibe. The residents of Encinitas benefit from the proximity to the ocean and natural environment, but they also have the conveniences of excellent shopping and commerce. The scenic ocean landscape is comprised of coastal beaches, rolling hills, and steep mesa bluffs, giving the town a unique and expansive feel. The city was incorporated in 1986 and draws together the communities of New Encinitas, Old Encinitas, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Leucadia, and Olivenhain.

Encinitas is a famed destination for surfers, with excellent beach breaks along its five-mile coast line. Popular beach sites include, Beacons, Moonlight and Swami’s. Encinitas has known to host semi-regular surf competitions. Whether you are a long boarder or short boarder, you will find a perfect break on the city’s coastline.

The Downtown area of Encinitas, which follows the 101, is a coastal shopping area that dates back over a century. It features historic architecture, artistic and family-run shops, sidewalk cafes, and restaurants—all framed by the beautiful flower arrangements that form part of Encinitas’s large floral industry.
